December 27, 2009

I greet you once again in the Name of Jesus!

I want to start this week’s post by reiterating that I do not believe that December 21, 2012 will signal the end of the world as we know it, nor do I believe that it will be the time of the Second Coming of Christ. We went into great detail in our last couple of posts as to the reasons for this. I will not revisit that material. I take this position on the authority of the written Word of God, the Bible.

While the Bible does not point to the end of civilization in our immediate future, there are a number of things it does point to. We have been taking a look at some of these over the past couple of weeks.

The next event on the prophetic horizon is the catching away, or rapture of the Church. This is a sign-less event, requiring nothing to be fulfilled prior to it. The Lord Jesus could return at any moment to receive us to Himself. Every Christian should live with a sense of excitement and expectation! Our Lord is coming back to receive us. May each of us ask the Holy Spirit to search our hearts and lives for anything displeasing to Him. In this approaching New Year may each of us seek to live in such close union with the Lord that when we leave this world it won’t be any big change. May we be like Enoch of old who, walked with God; and he was not, for God took him. [Gen. 5:24 NKJV]

Following the rapture of the Church will be the time of great tribulation. This is, according to Daniel’s prophecy, a seven-year period commencing with the signing of a successful Mid-East peace treaty giving the Jews the right to not only re-build their temple, but re-initiate temple sacrifices. It ends with the treaty being broken after three and a half years, and temple sacrifices being suddenly ended. At that time strong persecution of the Jews will begin. The climax of this will occur when the Nations of the world are gathered together at the Jezreel valley, or Armageddon.

 3. Power Centralized In One Man:

After the rapture people will be searching for answers. The Bible makes it clear that from the midst of chaos and world leaders jockeying for power on the world stage, will emerge one leader who will successfully broker peace between the Jews and her Arab neighbors; thus ending a centuries old battle for land and supremacy. Some place in the mix will be a promise of oil for the West most likely. I submit to you that the leader who will emerge will be a Muslim of Middle-Eastern descent. I realize that this is not the standard position of most prophecy teachers. Most say he will come out of a revived Roman Empire. While the Roman Empire will rise again, and even has to a certain extent, it will be the eastern rather than the Western division of this Empire that will produce the Antichrist. We will explain this in a future edition.

This “peace deal” will produce an era of false peace, a move toward disarmament, and a major push for a new world economic system. The foundation for all of these things was laid many, many years ago. There has been a system operating beneath the system, in the shadows if you will, for many hundreds of years manipulating world events to bring the nations to the place they are today. We are hearing almost daily news concerning our global problems with respect to the environment, finance, and health. You should know that much of the news concerning what is going on is being filtered by the American news media. The overseas news agencies are carrying stories on a coming world currency, global government, as well as calls for one leader to emerge. It is happening now.

The early part of the Great Tribulation will be the calm before the storm as the new leader consolidates his power. It won’t be long however before trouble breaks out and difficulties begin to mount. The last three-and-a-half years of this seven-year period will include a series of almost inconceivable catastrophes. Just before this period begins, Russia and a group of Islamic allies will attempt a final bid for power in the Middle East, but their armies will be supernaturally destroyed [Ezekiel 38, 39]. The balance of power will swing decisively to the world’s new strongman, the Antichrist. As Satan’s “man of the hour”, the Antichrist will then attempt to destroy Israel, now disarmed and at peace. In the fashion of the Babylonian and Roman Emperors, he will deify himself and command the worship of the world.

On his watch, the world will come apart at the seams. We will get into that next time.

The Weekly Word is found in Matthew 24:21. Here the Bible says,

For there will be trouble then worse than there has ever been from the beginning of the world until now, and there will be nothing like it again! [Matt. 24:21 CJB]

Until next time, this is THE WEEKLY WORD.
